About us

The Li Research group is part of the Department of Chemistry and Organic and Carbon Electronics Laboratories (ORaCEL) at NC State. Our research lies at the interface of chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering as well as chemical engineering. Our solid-state chemistry group specializes in synthesizing novel hybrid semiconductors and exploring their structure-property relationships for applications in optoelectronics, clean energy, and quantum information. After synthesizing the materials, we will characterize their optical, electronic and magnetic properties with various spectroscopic techniques. Then we can fabricate optoelectronic and spintronic devices in collaboration with other groups at ORaCEL. Located in the research triangle area, we also have collaborations with groups at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University. Our students have the opportunities to learn a variety of skills including synthesis, spectroscopy and device fabrication depending on their research projects and interests.
