Xiaotong was born and raised in China. She obtained her B.S. in chemistry from Nankai University, in Tianjin, China. Then she moved to the US to earn her Ph.D. in chemistry at Northwestern University, under the supervision of Prof. Mercouri Kanatzidis on structure-property relationships of 2D halide perovskites. She conducted her postdoctoral research at California Institute of Technology, where she worked with Prof. Kimberly See on cathode materials for Li and Na-ion batteries. She joined the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Organic and Carbon Electronics Laboratories at North Carolina State University in January 2024.
Xiang-bin Han, Ph.D.

Xiang-bin is from China. He obtained his B.S. in applied chemistry from Shaoxing University in China. He obtained his Master’s degree from Southeast University in China. Then he moved to Japan to earn his Ph.D. in physical chemistry at Tohoku University. Prior to NC State, he was a postdoc researcher at Southeast University, specializing in the synthesis and ferroelectric properties of halide perovskites.

Thu grew up in Vietnam and graduated from the University of Science – Ho Chi Minh City. During her B.S., she worked on Sodium-ion batteries with Dr. Phung ML Le. She joined the Li research group in the Fall of 2023.
Xincheng (Allen) Liu

Allen grew up in China. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Nankai University, China in 2019. He spent three years in research programs at Professor Wei Li’s novel nano-catalytic materials lab. In 2022-2024, he worked in Dr. Timothy D. Craggs’ lab on a research project in biophysical chemistry and received his Master’s degree from the University of Sheffield. Allen joined the Li research group in Spring 2024.
Violeta Spanou

Violeta grew up in Greece and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Crete in March of 2024. She worked on the synthesis and crystal growth of hybrid halide perovskite single-crystals with Dr. Constantinos C. Stoumpos for 2 years. Violeta joined the Li research group in Fall 2024.
Kaleb Mallon

Kaleb grew up in Virginia on the east coast of the US. He graduated from Shepherd University in 2024 with a B.S. in chemistry. In his junior year he completed REU research at Southern Methodist University working with organic cocrystals under Dr. Tomce Runcevski. He joined the Li research group in the Fall 2024.
Carson Campbell

Carson is a NCSSM alumni and a current undergraduate NC State senior majoring in chemistry and minoring in philosophy. He is one of the executive members of the student affiliates of the American Chemical Society. He started his passion in solid state chemistry working in Prof. Paul Maggard's lab on oxide perovskites. He joined the Li group in Summer 2024.

Farah was born in Florida and then moved to Maine. She is an undergraduate student at the University of West Florida. She joined the Li group as part of the research-triangle REU program in Summer 2024, which includes three universities in the area and focuses on halide perovskites.

Luoqi grew up in China. She is an undergraduate student at Nankai University, where she works on lithium-ion batteries and sodium-ion batteries with Prof. Jun Chen. She joined the Li group in Summer 2024.
